Lou Michels

Lou Michels is a partner at Baker and McKenzie, the largest law firm in North America and 4th largest in the world. He specializes in labor and employment litigation and also serves as General Counsel to Walton Sports Management Group.  Michels has worked in every aspect of labor and employment law and specializes in professional sports counseling.

Over the course of his career, Michels has developed a particular expertise in dealing with contract negotiations.  He has worked in a multitude of sports areas including football, basketball, baseball, and international track and field.

Michels’ experiences in law as well as his accomplishments throughout his career, is a testimony to the standards WSMG holds itself to.

Lou is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. He is admitted to practice in Tennessee, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Illinois. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and Duke Law School.

Michels has grown up surrounded by professional sports.  His father was the offensive line coach for the Minnesota Vikings for almost three decades.  He understands the pressure professional athletes are under and how important having a strong support team is to making it at the next level.

Lou currently resides in Chicago, IL.
